The journey of self employment
So as our first tax return is submitted (right on deadline…nothing like leaving it until the last minute) we can feel a little bit more relieved in the fact we know ‘a little bit’ more about self assessments.
So we started our business 1 1/2 ago and to be quite frank we didn’t really know what we were doing! One thing we both were was determined and strong minded, but if we thought that 2 years ago we can certainly say we are alot stronger now!
We absolutely love giving advice to other entrepreneurs out there and we have even been able to give advice to our friends and we love it. Working for yourself is always going to be a rollercoaster but its what you do on those highs and lows that count. We certainly wouldn’t recommend self employment to everyone, you have to have a strong idea, have done extensive market research and most importantly have the determination. You have to work hard and be proactive in your business, people won’t come to you (unless you’re a few years down the line) you have to go to them, it is how hard you work that determines your income after all!
Now you might be thinking what do they know after 1 1/2 years of running a business, (after all we are not quite near the safe 2 years yet) well we feel stronger and more business minded. When you work for yourself you don’t have someone telling you what you need to be doing, you are that person, you learn, use what you learn into developing that brand and what we love to do is help other people out though advice and general goodwill!
